#somuchlaundry....it's a praise, not a complaint

If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed me use the hashtag "so much laundry." While it initially sounds like a complaint, I can assure you, it's not.

It would be so easy to complain about the laundry: there are four people around here, the baby has reflux and goes through so many bibs & burp cloths & shirts & crib sheets, we use cloth over disposable (even for diapers)...and there is a lot of laundry around this house.

But #somuchlaundry is not a complaint! You see, with a simple tweak to my attitude about this constant, never ending, easily overwhelming chore, #somuchlaundry becomes a reminder to be thankful and a time for praise.

There are people all over the world and living close to us that would love to have the change of clothes we have. Or the warm blankets and bedding we have. We are so fortunate to be the owners of this laundry. I am thankful for the physical gifts we have been given. Including the gift of a washing machine, drying rack, and electric dryer to help me clean them!

Even more than my thankfulness for the things that we have, the dirty laundry represents the lives of those that I love. As I wash each person's laundry I am reminded how much I love them and how happy I am to have them as a part of my life. We lost our son to miscarriage about 1.5 years ago; I would gladly do more laundry to be able to have him and hold him in our daily lives, too. Doing the laundry reminds me of the gift I have in these people's lives. I am thankful for the people God has placed in our family.

Out of this never-ending chore, God has shown me a constant reminder of how much he has poured out blessing in my life and for that I am so thankful! Having #somuchlaundry is certainly no reason for complaint. Thus, I say #somuchlaundry as a praise and a reminder of how thankful I am for these gifts!
