About
Who the Hoosiers Are
Hi! My name is Vanessa and I am the author of this blog. I am a daughter of the most high God - He is my daily sustenance and guide. The foundation for all that we do and the way that we live is a desire to live wholly for our Lord and to follow His will.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Cole, and love learning more about how to be his helpmeet. We are parents to Meghan (February 2014), a baby we lost in May of 2015, and Katie (May 2016).
Meghan is a creative, energetic, and sensitive soul. She loves learning and creating and has a vivid imagination. Meghan is considered "twice exceptional" as she is both gifted and has ADHD.
Katie is so sweet and so sassy. She has Autism & Global Developmental Delays as well as several medical complexities. She receives multiple therapies and works super hard both at therapy and at home to overcome her unique challenges.
We believe in the biblical call of a woman to be a keeper at home (Titus 2) and I seek to be constantly growing in my skill knowledge and application that will help me better fulfill my roles of wife, mama, and homeschool teacher.
We have a super cuddly kitten named Firbolg. He usually just goes by Firb.
We seek to live a life that is simple, believing that we have been called by God to be good stewards of all that he has blessed us with. We enjoy working towards ensuring that our home provides warmth, comfort, and a reminder of God's goodness to all that enter.

What We Do & Why We Do It
We believe that a child's education begins at birth and thus we have been very intentional in the choices we have made for our children in their toys, books, environment, and experiences.
We believe strongly that home is a wonderful place to learn. We read so many books. We solve puzzles and play board games. We craft and create. We are developing a family culture that is rich in opportunities for learning and growth - together.
Childhood is a magical time - our girls spend time in nature, time working alongside us, time being read to, and time in free play.

the Blog
On this blog you can expect to find glimpses into the things we are learning and doing as we journey - practical tips, glimpses into our days, routines & systems that work well for us, and more.
Because we are raising two children with special needs our life is a bit "different" than most. We attend many medical appointments and many therapy appointments. We implement many systems to help our girls be successful in our home. We do lots of therapy. Just making it day-to-day takes several modifications and much planning in a special needs family.
I will be sharing the way we do things around our home; this is not because I think you should do it the exact same way or that my way is the one 'right' way. I share what works well for our family in hopes that it will provide inspiration and ideas for how things might work well in your home with your family (whether you have children with special needs or not).
We pray that this blog will be a place where you will be both encouraged and inspired in your own lives and homes.
